Information about Legal Fees and Payment Plans
Before I get to the FAQs, there are a few things that should be said about PRICE SHOPPING for
legal representation. The outcome of your case will typically affect the rest of your life
so it is important to understand that, with lawyers, you get what you pay for. When seeking legal representation on criminal
charges you should ask yourself, “If I find an attorney who will take my case for a few thousand dollars less
than another attorney, but the result is time in prison, did I really save money?” Because your freedom, your family,
and your future depend upon the final results of your case, you should NEVER hire a lawyer simply based on price. A savings
of a few dollars now will likely be quite costly later. Don't ever let price be an issue for you. PLEASE CALL MY OFFICE
TO DISCUSS SETTING UP A REASONABLE PAYMENT PLAN.
FAQS
How Much Does a Legal Defense Team Cost? This is usually one of the very first questions
that a client will ask. As is probably expected, with criminal defense the answer depends on the particular circumstances
of your case, your criminal history, and the needed result. Taking advantage of our FREE CONSULTATION will help you to better
undetstand your legal problem and what it will take for my lawyers to resolve it. Please click the link at the bottom
of this page for our fee chart.
How Much Does a Personal Injury Case Cost? We handle personal
injury claims on a contingency fee basis. That means that you will never pay an hourly fee for the time that my
legal team spends on your case. Instead my office will take a percentage of any money that you
receive as a result of our representation. If my legal team can't get you money for your injury then I simply
don't get paid. Of course, just like at other law firms, you are always responsible for the hard costs of the case. These
are things like the court filing fee, court reporters, and service of legal documents.
Is the price fixed, or could it increase as the case progresses? My office always charges a flat fee for criminal defense. The amount of that flat fee depends upon the
kind of charge that you are facing, your criminal history, and the facts of your case.
Because we want to be upfront about all of our legal fees, we post them openly. Please click the link at the bottom
of this page for our fee chart.
Is a trial included in the price?
Yes, the price of trial is included in the contingency fee for personal injury cases and the flat fee that you pay
for criminal representation. Although we may have to charge you slightly more over all, good trial preparation is essential
to a positive result in your case. Because the prosecutors that we work with
know that we are always prepared to go to trial, our clients often receive more favorable plea deals or get their charges
dismissed entirely. With each of our cases we prepare for trial because skipping
trial preparation in order to save money might actually cost you far more in the end in the form of a worse case result.
Are
there hidden costs? At your free consultation you will receive full disclosure of all possible costs and fees associated
with your case. You will receive this information in writing so that you never need to worry about hidden costs.
What
extra expenses are involved? It is important to understand that some cases may require investigators, psychologists, doctors, and
other outside professionals. There may also be costs associated with obtaining documents, evidence, or other records. Although we will always give you our advice as to what is needed, it will always be
up to you to decide what extra expenses are incurred.
Can I Afford a Legal
Team?
While we are not the least expensive law firm you will find for criminal defense, for the quality of defense we provide, our
prices are unbeatable. Please click the link at the bottom of this page for our fee chart. For personal injury
cases, our contingent fees are very comparable to other local law firms.
CAN I FINANCE MY LEGAL FEES? Most people do not put money away in
case they get charged with a crime. For this reason, most clients need to finance
their criminal defense fees. Possible sources of cash for legal fees include family members, friends, credit cards
and home equity loans. If none of these options are available to you, then my
office may finance you. In house financing usually requires a $250 file maintenance fee, as little as a $1000 down
payment, and the remainder of your balance paid in as few as three equal payments. Remember, you never need to finance a personal injury case.
